Microsuction is a new method to remove wax from ears. It does not involve the use of water (unlike traditional ear syringing), therefore there is less risk of eardrum perforations and trauma. It may be particularly suitable for anyone who has difficulty tolerating syringing. It is also recommended for anyone who takes blood thinning medication or has had a previous ear drum perforation.
Dr Gareth Brady completed microsuction training in the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital. A fee is charged for all patients for this clinic (this is not covered by a medical card).
